Night of Arts at Malminkartanonaukio

Malminkartanonaukio will be filled with the program on the Night of the Arts, when a performance stage will be set up on, and which Kinky Thing, Asa and Tonium 4 will perform. In the free workshops open to everyone, you can paint butterflies and print your own Malminkartano bag. (FB-event)

Art workshops from 15:00 to 18:00

This summer in Malminkartano, colorful butterflies will be painted to delight the homes and streets of Malminkartano. The fourth and last butterfly workshop will take place on the Night of the Arts. We bring plywood butterflies that people of all ages can come and paint with our paints. You can take the painted butterflies home with you or leave them hanging around Malminkartano.

On the night of the arts, you can also print your own Malminkartano fabric bag, because the bag workshop that became a big hit last year is making a comeback! We bring sieves, paints and bags. If you want, you can also print the picture on your own shirt.

Live music from 16:30 to 22:00

Kinky Thing plays Kingston Wall
The Kinky Thing is not just any tribute, but an ecstatic experience of what Kingston Wall sounded like around the time of album II. Includes e.g. the band’s original drummer Sami Kuoppamäki’s drum set. At their 2024 concerts, the band will play cover to cover of Kingston Wall’s II album.

Asa
Asa is an award-winning long-time rap musician who has followed his own rhythm since the beginning of his career. The spoken word artist draws influences from any stylistic trend, from folk music nuances to traditional hip-hop and psychedelic flow. This time, Asa performs with a new live line-up, which again brings new dimensions to the music.

Tonium 4
Tonium 4 is a bit like Plutonium 74, except with fewer performers on average and more electronic sounds. And a shorter name. It is nimbler and smoother in its movements and fits in a station wagon. It presents familiar and more unfamiliar material, which you have also heard at Plutonium 74’s concerts.

The event is organized by Helsinki Urban Art ry in cooperation with Kanneltalo.
