ANETTA LUKJANOVA, Kapinatori, Mäntsälä
Anetta Lukjanova
In August 2019, Mäntsälä’s first large scale mural was painted in Kapinatori. Three giant robins embellish a wall that outlines the market square.
Anetta Lukjanova, experienced in figurative art and magical realism, designed and painted a mural that fits the lush green scenery of Kapinatori, the locals’ meeting place. The mural is first of its kind as nothing as large has been created in Mäntsälä before.
The mellow artwork matches its surroundings beautifully. The mural’s color scheme attracts viewers’ attention as it combines the robins’ natural tones with dreamlike colors. Strong highlights and shades bring the birds to life and create an illusion of them coming out from the wall. The mural plays around with size differences: it has turned tiny and gentle robins into gigantic creatures and it’s intriguing to imagine them in the same space with people.
When Lukjanova was painting her piece, Kapinatori was under construction, but since then the area has been completed. Now the colorful mural invites locals to enjoy themselves at the vibrant square.
