Community art for Bryga playground
Helsinki Urban Art made a community art project of the playground on Redi’s park deck, Bryga. The project was a part of The Helsinki Metropolitan Area Guides and Scouts’ Chilli-event.
Due to the construction of the Kalasatama towers, the playground is protected by plywood, which affected the overall comfort of the playground. We designed four different environments for the plywood: underwater world, mountain, jungle and beach. The children made templates of the animal figures they wanted to paint and then used these templates to spray paint the animals in their suitable environment. The next day was an open workshop for everyone who wanted to participate. During the day, there were several dozen participants who filled the playground with many kinds of animals.
Painting the playground made a huge impact on Bryga’s look. The animals will delight Bryga’s players as long as the construction site continues.
