LAURI AHTINEN, Kaivopiha, Helsinki

Lauri Ahtinen is an Oulu based artist working with many mediums within the art field. He is a comic artist, a painter, a pattern designer, a teacher and an illustrator. He has been working with different surfaces and medias for over a decade. To Kaivopiha, Ahtinen painted an abstract mural playing with light pastel colours, different shapes, illustrative images, neon effects and dadaist texts. 

The art work brings colour, movement and positive energy on the busy aisle of Kaivopiha. It can be seen from both far or close. The final painting was created during Ahtinen’s working process when he observed the environment and partly improvised. 

The mural was created as a part of the opening of the newly renovated Kaivopiha.
