In August live music and other events will bring life to the streets of Malminkartano!

PROGRAM

  • August 16th: Maltsu elää: Dinner + Jaakko Laitinen & Väärä raha + Improvisoidut iltamat

    Come and join us for dinner in Malminkartano Square! Bring your own food, drinks, and dishes with a happy spirit, we provide the tables and benches. Entertainment alongside dinner will be provided acoustically by Jaakko Laitinen & Väärä Raha.

    Dinner starts at 19:00 and ends at 21:00. Participation is free but registration in advance is required. In case of rainy weather, dinner is arranged under the shelter or indoors.

    Before dinner: Improvisoidut Iltamat -performance ensemble by Tsuumi Dance Theatre 18:00-18.45.

  • August 17th: Night of the Arts
    Race Horse Company: Sirkus ikään kuin ikään
    17.00 Library Square

    Contemporary circus group Race Horse Company’s Sirkus ikään kuin ikään -performance is a high-quality and versatile wordless contemporary circus performance suitable for all ages and speakers of all languages.
    Performance is a story of three traveler’s journey to a shared campsite. The meeting of three different characters causes lots of adventures and surprising turns. With a cooperation differences between the characters become resources helping the group to survive the obstacles and outdo themselves.
    During the performance, the audience will, for example, see juggling and acrobatics with humour and physical comedy.

    Tote Bag Workshop
    17.00-20.00

    On the night of the Arts, you can come to print your own Malminkartano tote bag! The workshop is free and suitable for all ages. The workshop is open from 17:00 to 20:00.

    Lala Salama
    19.00 Malminkartanonaukio Square

    Lala Salama is distortion and lightning. Energy is directed to the body without saving any volume. Unapologetically strong vocals. Have you heard about the future of rock? Possibly yes, if the universe is limited between Pasila and Tikkurila. 

    Risto
    20.00 Malminkartanonaukio Square

    Malminkartanonaukio Square fills up with live music on the Night of the Arts, when one of the leading names of Finnish indie rock for twenty years, Risto, will be taking the stage.

    The event is free and open to all.

    Showtime: 20:00. 

    Risto, also named to be one of the best rock bands of all time, was founded in 2002. Risto released their fourth studio album named “Risto II” in 2013. The frontman of the band has also been awarded with the renowned Teosto-award.

  • August 19th: Uniikki, Lyömättömät, Ex Tuuttiz & KAKKU at Apollo school yard

    The history of Finnish rap can’t be written without mentioning Malminkartano, the place from where many Finnish rap artists are coming from. On Saturday 19th of August, we’re celebrating the alliance of Maltsu and Finnish rap on the graffiti-filled yard of soon-to-be demolished Apollo school (Arentipolku 1).

    During the evening, the stage will be filled with various artists, such as Uniikki, one of the most prominent names in Finnish rap, insightful Ex Tuuttiz, up-and-coming KAKKU and Lyömättömät with their versatile musical skills.
