Nurmijärvi street art project

If you could take a screenshot of your life right now, what would it look like? Helsinki Urban Art invites the youth of Nurmijärvi to join us in the creation of a street art piece in May 2023. The piece will be painted on the underpass between Kuntotie and Kiikkaistenkuja. The theme of the piece is time capsule: what things, objects, and phenomena are important for the youth in 2020s? What memories and moments would you like to preserve in the form of street art?

The artwork will be created in workshops. The first workshops focus on creation of stencils that represent the different things, objects, and phenomena of the 2020s, whereas the second ones focus on painting these images on the underpass with spray paint. You are welcome to join in both of the workshops or either one of them. No pre-registration or prior competence in street art is needed. However, in the painting workshops, please wear clothes that are not the most important to you, as you might get some paint on them. The workshops are aimed at people over 12.

You can drop in the workshops anytime you want. Please note that you should reserve at least 1 hour for the creation of a stencil. However, you are also free to work on the same stencil for both of the workshop days and join us in painting on both painting days.
