SARA MULTANEN, Leonkatu 16-18

Sara Multanen’s series of murals is located on a shared courtyard used by residents of the block and a kindergarten. They are painted on bulky cylinder-shaped ventilation towers that dominate the yard. The series’ theme is the five big oceans of the planet: Arctic Ocean, Indian Ocean, the Atlantic, Pacific Ocean and Southern Ocean. Their landscapes, flora, and fauna give each piece their own identity and colour palette. The paintings continue on the roofs of the cylinders, which offers yet another kind of view for residents looking down from their windows.

The murals were completed in June 2018.
