About the tour

Pasila is a concrete-filled neighbourhood in Helsinki, located just 5 minutes by train from the Central railway station. It gained its reputation as a graffiti and street art venue already over 30 years ago, and now it is enjoying a revival after a long period of “zero tolerance” — a policy that forbade any street art activity in Helsinki.

Pasila Street Art District is a unique place in Finland when it comes to the amount, variety and quality of street art. During the last few years, a number of artists from Finland and abroad have been turning this part of Helsinki into a one big street art gallery. Today, the area features works of local and internationally renowned artists.

During the 2 hour tour, you’ll see a lot of street art varying from graffiti to stencils, big murals, ceramic art and installations. We will introduce the art pieces and the stories behind the, explain how they were made and what kind of techniques are used in street art. You’ll also hear more about the area, history of street art and graffiti and other interesting details of Helsinki. No other tour guides offer similarly profound and intriguing street art themed tours.

Practicalities

The tours start at Original Sokos Hotel Tripla located next to Pasila railway station.  There you can also leave your bags and check out our changing urban art exhibition in the hotel lobby. Depending on the weather, remember to take drinking water, an umbrella or warm clothes with you. You can reach Pasila, for example, with every local train leaving from the Central railway station. The tour ends in Pasila Urban Art Center (Kasöörinkatu 3), where you can see our current exhibition and learn even more about street art.

We organise public street art tours usually every second Saturday of the month at 11am. You don’t need to sign up beforehand, just show up at Original Sokos Hotel Tripla (Fredrikanterassi 1 B) before the tour starts.

Public tours will continue in March 2023. Mark the dates in Facebook event.

Public tours are held in English (unless otherwise stated), but on request we do private tours also in Finnish, German and Russian. You can decide yourself how much you want to pay for the tour (recommended donation at least 10 €). We accept cash and MobilePay payments.

The proceeds are used to cover the costs of Pasila Urban Art Center, and to create new street art in the area.

The price of private tours is determined by the number of participants. Tours of up to six people cost 150€ and a tours for larger groups 200€. For schools and educational institutions, the tour costs 100€ regardless of the size of the group. If you are interested, please contact us at info@helsinkiurbanart.com.
