TERHI ADLER: METSÄNPEITTO January 18th – April 12th, 2023
Metsänpeitto (eng. “forest’s cover”) by Terhi Adler on Tripla Urban Art wall opens on 18th of January at 5 PM. Welcome!
The exhibition combines love towards Finnish nature, folklore, and crafts. I have felt sorrow for breaking links, how knowledge no longer is transmitted from one generation to another, and how we grow apart from our forests. I have thus learned to recognize different flora, fauna, and fungi, and their uses, as well as different craft practices that might not have been appreciated enough in art.
Metsänpeitto refers to an experience of getting lost in the forest so that even familiar places seem unrecognizable. I have experienced this myself in familiar forests, especially as a child – when I spent more time in nature. I do miss forests greatly.
However, the forest embraces, gives shelter, and a space to live. The soft cover is also warm. Do not worry, sit down, and breathe – you will find your beanie!
Terhi Adler (1989) is a visual multidisciplinary artist working with illustration, cartoons and graphic design. She is interested in mistakes, mystique, plants and folklore. She has a master’s degree in Arts from Aalto University.
